A map is only useful if you know where you’re starting from. Now that your vision is clear, this lesson helps you take an honest look at where you are now in each area of life, so you can see the gap and decide where to begin.
Rate each area
For each of the eight life areas from Lesson 4.1, give yourself two scores from 1 to 10:
- Now: how satisfied you are with this area today.
- Vision: how close today is to the vision you wrote.
Then write one or two sentences of evidence for each score. As with the alignment check in Module 2, base your score on what’s actually happening, not on what you intend.
Read the pattern
Look across your scores and notice:
- Strengths: areas that are already strong. What’s working there? Those strategies may transfer to other areas.
- Biggest gaps: areas far from your vision. These often feel the most urgent.
- Leverage areas: areas where change would improve several others. Sleep and energy, for example, often affect relationships, work and mood. Clear money decisions can reduce stress everywhere.
Choose your focus
Trying to change everything at once is one of the most common reasons people give up. Instead, choose one or two focus areas for the next 90 days. Good candidates are areas that are:
- Important to your purpose and values.
- Large gaps between now and your vision.
- Leverage points that will lift other areas too.
The other areas don’t disappear. You’ll keep them steady while you give your focus areas extra attention.
Be kind to your starting point
Seeing a big gap can feel discouraging. Remember: every vision begins with a gap; that’s what makes it a vision. Where you are now is not a verdict on you. It’s simply the starting point for the choices you’ll make next.
Try this: your life snapshot
Complete the Where I Am Now worksheet. Score each area, add your evidence, and circle your one or two focus areas for the next 90 days. Next to each one, write a sentence explaining why it matters, linked to your purpose or a core value.
